On Thursday, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met to discuss the way forward for the ailing ruling party. The discussions, however centered on Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, National Chairman of the party and his many sins.

At the meeting 11 out of 12 NWC members aired their grievances against Tukur. The members said the PDP cannot win the 2015 elections with Tukur at the helm of affairs, stating clearly that no organ of the party was happy with the National chairman.

Tukur's sins were listed as ;
  • Lack of access to Tukur sometimes for two weeks
  • Mass defection from the PDP due to lack of confidence in Tukur
  • Holding party /NWC meetings at chair’s residence instead of PDP Secretariat
  • Running a parallel NWC leaving Tukur to take decisions on critical party
  • Governors, National Assembly members, BOT, NEC unhappy with Tukur
  • Globe-trotting without any result to enhance the electoral fortunes of the party
  • No concrete achievements since Tukur took over in the last two years. He could not even complete the ongoing National Secretariat of the party
Come January, 16 the PDP National Executive Committee, NEC will meet; until then Tukur remains PDP National Chairman.
