In order to fight the ravaging terrorism scourge in Nigeria, the popular Shitta-Bey family of Lagos is collaborating with the Turkish government to facilitate the procurement of war equipments that will aid in combating the scourge.
To this end, the family has arranged for the donation of a warship by the Turkish government to the Nigerian Navy. The Turkish warship berthed in Lagos on Wednesday and was handed over to the Nigeria Navy and Defence personnel at the Apapa Ports in Lagos on Thursday.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Mustafa Pulat, during the occasion explained that the initiative to hand over the warship was to support the Nigeria Navy to ensure optimum security on waters and at the same time give Nigeria government opportunities to put in place certain security measures to overcome varying challenges.
