Pilot Murat Akpinar and his co-pilot Murat Agca have been abducted in Lebanon, near Beirut's international airport. The two kidnapped pilots work for Turkish airlines.

The pilots were reportedly snatched from a bus, which was carrying several other crew members and passengers between a hotel and the airport terminal.

Zuwwar al-Imam Rida has said it seized the men, saying they would be freed in exchange for nine Lebanese hostages in Syria, a Lebanese group has owned up for the kidnapping. The group claims it seized the men, saying they would be freed in exchange for nine Lebanese hostages in Syria.

Zuwwar al-Imam Rida supports President Bashar al-Assad while the Turkish government supports Syria's Sunni rebels.

The families of the nine Lebanese hostages took to the streets of Bierut celebrating when they got news of the kidnapping, although they denied having prior information.
