28 year old Olowo Jesse Omokoh has been recently arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The University of Ibadan undergraduate reportedly scammed one Mrs. Jette Jacob, an Australian based in Johannesburg, South Africa of $90,000 in what is being classified a romance scam.

Omokoh allegedly met her on a dating site, where the romance begun and it got to the point where he had to move to Johannesburg in 2013 to meet up with Mrs. Jacob.

As the story goes, he arrived Johannesburg on February 4, 2013 to meet with his online lover, Jacob, who had been in Johannesburg since November 2012. Five days after he arrived, Mrs. Jacob was discovered dead in her apartment with some of her valuable items missing. Omokoh reportedly fled the country after Mrs. Jacob was found dead and returned to Nigeria.

The South African police believe Omokoh had something to do with Mrs. Jacob’s death.

By March 15th, 2013, the Australian Federation Police sent a petition to the EFCC, asking for help in tracking down Omokoh, alleging that he had defrauded the dead Jacob of $90,000.

The EFCC began the hunt, but Omokoh stayed underground and it was only a few days ago he was finally caught. He has since then made statements that would be useful in tracking down his accomplices.

He would be arraigned in court as soon as the investigations are finished.
