Ms Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of African Affairs, on Tuesday said her country would redouble efforts toward stemming the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.

Thomas-Greenfield, in a teleconference with journalists across Africa, described Boko Haram as “a daring sect that needed multi-faceted confrontation’’.

“Boko Haram has always been daring.

“We are, therefore, working closely with the Nigeria Government to address the issue of extremism.

“Nigeria can resist extremism and already the U.S. Government is achieving great success in its support for fighting Boko Haram extremism,’’ she said. (NAN)
