Dianne Feinstein and Lamar Alexander are apparently unhappy with in-flight phone calls, as they have made a bipartisan legislation calling for a ban on voice calls on commercial flights. This bill would allow the bill, known as the Commercial Flight Courtesy Act would apply to all passenger flights in the US if passed and would overrule other attempts by govt agencies to allow phone calls during flights.

The authors of the legislation have noted that the main reason for the ban isn’t as a safety precaution, but to put a stop to the irritation that are in-flight phone calls, apparently.

As Alexander says, "Keeping phone conversations private on commercial flights may not be enshrined in the Constitution, but it is certainly enshrined in common sense. This legislation is about avoiding something nobody wants: nearly 2 million passengers a day, hurtling through space, trapped in 17-inch-wide seats, yapping their innermost thoughts."

The bill, if passed, would put an end to a long-running dispute on voice calls during flights in the USA.
