The Nigeria Weightlifting Federation(NWF) is confident of hosting a successful National Weightlifting competition,assuring of adequate security,in the tournament.
Uyo will play host to the 2013 edition of the Weightlifting event,which will commence from July 29 to August 3.
President of the NWF,Chibudom Nwuche said that all necessary logistics have been put in place for a good tournament,with special preference to the security of the athletes.
“We have contacted the security agencies and we are happy with the peaceful nature of Uyo and Akwa Ibom State generally. We are going to Uyo to enjoy the uncommon transformation of the state,” Nwuche said on The Punch.
The championship will be used as a preparatory ground for athletes,who will represent Nigeria at the continental championship coming up in September,with Nigeria the host nation.
