May & Baker Nigeria Plc has been certified by the World Health Organisation as a pharmaceutical manufacturing company with adequate facilities and processes that meet the Good Manufacturing Practice, according to a statement from the company.
May & Baker, which expanded its operations with the construction of a manufacturing complex, the PharmaCentre, in Ota, Ogun State a few years back, said the certification had opened a vast opportunity for global drug manufacturing contracts to it. PUNCH says.
The Managing Director, May & Baker, Mr. Nnamdi Okafor, was quoted as saying that the company had become synonymous with excellence since it started operations in Nigeria in 1944 as the first pharmaceutical company in the country.
According to him, the WHO certification is not an end in itself but a source of motivation for the company to pursue new goals “in the quest for excellent health care delivery in Nigeria.”
