The management of Eko Electricity Company (EKEDC) on Friday said that power outage currently being experienced by its customers on Victoria Island and Lekki was caused by system collapse from the national grid.

Mr Godwin Idemudia, the General Manager of the company, said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos.

Idemudia said that the outages were also affecting Ikoyi, Festac town, Mushin, Surulere and environs.

“We are, therefore, appealing to customers on Victoria Island, Lekki, Ikoyi, Festac, Mushin, Surulere and environs to bear with us as supply is now being restored gradually,’’ it said.

It added that the collapse occurred on Thursday around 7:19 p.m.

“There was another system collapse from the national grid as confirmed from the Nigeria Control Centre (NCC) in Oshogbo.

“The system collapsed on Thursday. Up till now, only parts of Agbara and Ojo have been restored to the 5MW each.
t said that the management of EKEDC highly regretted any inconveniences caused by the outage.
