On Friday, President Goodluck Jonathan had a closed-door meeting with Mohammed Abacha, and it is suspected that their discussions centered on the forthcoming PDP primaries.

Abacha, himself, is a governorship aspirant of the PDP in Kano state. The party's governorship primaries will hold nationwide on Monday.

After the meeting which held at the Presidential villa, Abacha told correspondents that he was confident PDP would wrest power from APC states in 2015.

“We are hopeful; I wouldn’t want to say too much. I said it before that it was a PDP state; it was a PDP ticket. It was taken or converted or even stolen; whatever you want to call it, so be it. The chances of the PDP are still bright,” he said.

In June, it is remembered, the FG withdrew the N446.3bn theft charges leveled against Mohammed Abacha. The nine-count charges had been brought against him in February 2014.

This decision by the government was met with much public outrage and disapproval.
