Kemi Jide, a house wife residing in the Edun Area, Ilorin on Thursday, asked an Ilorin Area Court to dissolve her two-year-old marriage, for alleged battery.
According to NAN, Kemi, told the court, "My husband is fond of beating me unnecessarily and would at times curse me and lock me inside our bedroom".
"I cannot continue to endure in an unproductive marriage and with a man that has no respect for his wife".
She blamed her childless condition for the problems in her marriage.
However, Jide urged the court not to dissolve the marriage, he said, "I promise to change because of the love I have for my wife. And I will never raise my hand on her anymore".
He prayed the court to grant another day for him to make reconciliatory step.
The case was adjourned till October 16 by the presiding judge, Mr Ibrahim Abdulquadri.
