Nigerian workers have promised to oppose the moving of the minimum wage bill from the executive list to the concurrent list in the new constitution.

The President of the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Mr. Ayuba Wabba said that the Senate is contravening the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention in dealing with minimum wage, freedom of association and collective bargaining.

According to him, workers have already petitioned the Presidency, Senate and House of Representatives on the issue.

He commended the House of Representatives for not taking the wrong side in this issue as the House of Reps did not even consider the amendment.

He further said that no votes were garnered in favour of the removal.
