A Bayelsa Special Security Task Force known as 'Operation Doo Akpor' has claimed credit for the arrest of members of a two-man gang for the ghastly attack on a 26-year old corps member, Folakemi Akinbode.

Operation Doo Akpor’ on Thursday announced the arrest of two suspects, Weri Malua and Ebi West Jato, but insisted they were not cultists.

It was however rumored that the feat was achieved by youths in the community who raised a search party and went after the suspected cultists.

Ms. Akinbode was returning from the Niger Delta Teaching Hospital, Oloibiri; her place of primary assignment when she was attacked. The hoodlums had been paid for blood donation earlier but waylaid Folakemi and robbed her of two mobile phones, almost severing her right hand in the process.

A youth leader in the area said the two suspects were handed to the police and that youths are on the lookout for other cultists who have been terrorizing the community.

He expressed worries that the government, rather than put the records straight, had concluded that the suspects were not cultists, and had given the credit for the arrest to Doo Akpor.
