Foreign shop owners currently doing business in the politically turbulent nation of Zimbabwe have been given till January 1, 2014 to shut down their businesses. Most of these shop owners are of Nigerian and Chinese descent.

This directive from the Black Empowerment Ministry of Zimbabwe insist that only nationals of the nation have the right to have shops across the country as stated in the black empowerment laws of the country.

Those laws demand that 51 per cent of the business be ceded over to the local blacks. Non-compliance of this 2007 law shall result in the arrest and possible confiscation of the business of the offender.
