Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s political party, Movement for Democratic Change(MDC), has asked that the election be declared void, and a new election be conducted within 60 days. The party filed the appeal on Friday.

According to the Zimbabwe's election commission, President Robert Mugabe defeated Morgan Tsvangirai 61% to 34% in the presidential election. MorganTsvangirai claimed the balloting was fraudulent.

Election observers and foreign officials raised doubts Saturday about the way the election was conducted, though some of them noted it was peaceful.

This is expected. Mugabe would have done the same thing if he'd lost the election. It's the typical response to election results in Africa.
