Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has won a seventh term in office, officials say, amid claims of electoral fraud. Mugabe, 89, won 61% of the vote, against Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai's 34%
Mr. Tsvangirai said that the elections for parliament and president were fraudulent and promised to take legal action.
Numerous bodies including several monitoring groups, the European Union, the US state department and former colonial power the UK doubted the credibility of the results and called for an investigation.
A member of the election commission, Commissioner Mkhululi Nyathi resigned on saturday over the way the election was conducted
The southern African regional bloc, Sadc endorsed the election but reserved judgment on it's operation.
African Union's mission chief Olusegun Obasanjo said there had been "incidents that could have been avoided" and asked for investigation on claims that voters had been turned away from polling stations.
Mr Mugabe has been president since 1987. He became prime minister when Zimbabwe won independence from the UK in 1980.
