Sports Zinedine Zidane given a three-month ban from coaching

Zinedine Zidane has been handed a three-month ban from coaching for not possessing the right qualifications to manage a team.

The former world best player was sanctioned by the Spanish Football Federation(RFEF) for coaching Real Madrid Castilla, the reserve side of the club, without the necessary requirements.

Zidane, last season worked with Real Madrid's first team assisting Carlo Ancelotti, before he was appointed reserve-team coach.

His assistant Santiago Sanchez in the Castilla team, was equally handed a three-month ban.

Real Madrid issued a statement on their "absolute disagreement" with the ban, adding that they will contest the decision.

In their defence, the club argued that Zidane: "has been authorised by the French Football Federation to work as a head coach in the category Real Madrid Castilla currently find themselves in".

"Real Madrid will pursue every available legal avenue so that this decision is overturned."
