In a disappointing turn of events for the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles faced a 2-0 defeat against Mali's Eagles in a friendly match held on Tuesday night at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.

The defeat came despite the Super Eagles' efforts, as expressed by defender Kenneth Omeruo, who attributed the loss partly to bad luck. Omeruo acknowledged that while the team played a better second half and displayed a commendable spirit, they failed to capitalize on their chances, ultimately conceding two goals to the opposition.

The first blow came from Atalanta star El Bilal Toure, who capitalized on a defensive error by Chidozie Awaziem to give Mali the lead in the 18th minute. Despite Nigeria's efforts to level the score, Kamarou Dounmbia sealed the win for Mali with another goal after the halftime break.

Reflecting on the match, Omeruo remained optimistic, highlighting the positive aspects of the team's performance and the fighting spirit displayed by the players. He emphasized that while the result was disappointing, the team gave their best effort on the field.

The defeat marks a setback for the Super Eagles, who were hoping to build on their previous victory over Ghana. However, it also serves as a learning opportunity as they prepare for future matches, including crucial qualifiers on the horizon.
