Four-time African player of the year, Yaya Toure has expressed optimism that Ivory Coast's intention of winning the 30th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

The Manchester City midfielder is confident that they will overcome their favorites tag and win the Nations Cup title.

The last Ivory Coast won the Nations Cup title was in 22 years ago at the Senegal 92 tournament, but they are yet to win it again since then, despite producing an array of stars since then.

"We have been chasing this trophy for a few years now, and we've not got it," Yaya Toure told Goal.com. "This year it's time again to try to do it and I hope that at long last we have it in us.

"We can do it. I am fighting for it."

"It’s not easy," Toure said. "Most of the players play in Europe on good pitches. In Africa sometimes it's totally different."
