With the World Cup just days away from commencing,it could be that Stephen #Keshi has made a rod for his own back with the decision to leave out #IkechukwuUche from his provisional World Cup squad in Brazil.

There was so much furore over the exclusion of Ikechukwu Uche from the 30-man shortlist that even former Governor of Abia State,Orji Uzor Kalu was championing a call for his recall.

And with each minute that passes by,it looks like leaving out Uche is a big mistake that could backfire, unless the strikers going to the tournamentt finds their scoring boots.

Only on Sunday Uche bagged his 14th goal in the Spanish La Liga for #Villarreal, and also chipping in an assist.

Fourteen goals in a top flight league like Spain, should be enough to get someone into at least his country's preliminary squad for the World Cup,especially not when other strikers on the rooster didn't score that much .

Reports emerged last week through The Punch newspaper, that Uche would have been included in the Super Eagles team if only he had apologised early enough.

So it has been established that a matter of flagrant ego was at full display between Keshi and Uche, right?

Because after they reportedly ironed out their differences,Keshi was said to have told Uche that his apologies came in late adding that he would have included him if he had gotten across to him earlier.

By the way,the said conversation was said to have taken place in April, weeks before the 30-man official list was announced.

If really Uche was on the plans of Keshi, there was no way he wouldn't have been able to tweak the list, irrespective of the time he put the call across to him.

Even up to till the last day that the list was announced, some alterations in the team was said to have taken place. Reading FC's Hope Akpan was initially believed to be on the shortlist, only for Uche Nwofor to surface hours later.

So if Uche had called in a month earlier before the list was released, there is a plausible tendency that he would have been taken in if he was really wanted.

Truth is that the strikers Keshi will be taking to World Cup will have to come in with the goods, because if they fail(WE DON'T WANT THEM TO) there will be a caravan calling for the gaffer's head over Uche's exclusion.
