Sports Ancelotti wants to sign Lionel Messi

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his interest in signing Lionel Messi if he decides to leave arch-rivals Barcelona at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old has refused to further commit his future to the Camp Nou outfit thereby fueling speculation that he could leave the Catalans.

Although Messi's father has come out to say that he is happy at Barcelona, there is a growing feeling that he might want to leave in future

"Messi could be a fix at Real Madrid? All quality teams have space in their side for quality players," he told reporters at Friday's press conference.

The arrival of Messi, as far-fetched as it may seem, would see the Argentine paired with his long time rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Between them, the two players have won the Ballon d'Or six times, but it is Ronaldo who is the stand out favourite to win the trophy for a third time in January.

It is highly unlikely that such a deal would go through, as both teams are arch-rivals and hardly does any business, not to talk of Barca selling Real their best asset.

The transfer of Luis Figo to Real from Barcelona, caused an uproar that the Catalans are still resentful of the Portuguese for moving to the Bernabeu.
