Just when the All Progressives Congress, APC was making moves to change the composition of the leadership in the National Assembly, the party has lost its majority status following the defection of Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele to the Labour Party, LP.

Informing the house of his defection, Bamidele said he was strongly opposed the merger of political parties that led to the formation of APC and did not wish to be part of it.

LP Lawmakers congratulated Bamidele on the move, welcoming him to their fold.

Meanwhile, the APC has reacted to claims that it has lost its majority status, a statement issued on behalf of the party by Femi Gbajabiamila said, "Let me state that Bamidele was not in the initial numerical configuration that gave birth to the majority status of the APC about two months ago.

"From the record of the APC House Caucus, his name had been deleted long before his official communication of defection today. I wish to reaffirm that the majority status of the APC status remains intact.
