As was expected Argentina national team manager Alejandro Sabella has announced his resignation as national team manager.

Despite leading Argentina to the finals of the 2014 World Cup tournament,Sabella will be stepping aside, although he made it known that he would have done so even if they had won the trophy

Former Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino is now the favourite to succeed him as the coach of the Albiceleste.

“You have to fill the energy tank, which sometimes gets empty. I have to think if I’m in condition to give 100 per cent" Sabella said .

Argentina will have to move quickly to appoint a new coach with an upcoming Germany on September 3 some weeks away, as they preparations begin for 2015 Copa America.

Also considered to replace Sabella is Jose Pekerman who is yet to renew his contract with the Colombian national team.
