Metro Enugu Police Rescue 2 'Burning' Men From Mob

The Police Command in Enugu State on Friday rescued two suspected criminals from being burnt alive by irate mob.

This is contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, in Enugu. It stated that the victims were accused of stealing.

The statement stated that the prompt intervention of police officers from the Central Police Station saved the victims from the imminent death.

"Two boys were allegedly set ablaze in the early hours of Friday, Dec. 19, at Rail Line, Holy Ghost Axis by angry mob. Following the incident, the attention of our operatives from Central Police Station, Enugu, was drawn to it.

"On arrival at the scene, they met the victims who were severely burnt and unconscious. However, the operatives rushed them to a nearby hospital for medical attention,” it stated.

The statement stated that the police had commenced investigations into the incident. It also stated that the police urged residents to be law abiding and to avoid jungle justice.
