The Federal Government on Tuesday in a statement signed by Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation announced the appointment of Brig.-Gen. Johnson Olawumi as the new Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The statement said Olawumi’s appointment took effect from Dec. 23.
Olawumi hails from Iyin Ekiti, in Ekiti State and attended the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, and was commissioned into the Nigerian Army on Sept. 23, 1989.
He has a Bachelor of Science’s degree in Mathematics from the Nigerian Defence Academy, a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florin.
He also has a Master’s degree in Defence Studies from the Kings College, London.
The statement said Olawumi’s appointment took effect from Dec. 23.
