Following speculations that the former Governor of Borno State, Senator Modu Sheriff, is planning to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a group, Bayelsans Advocacy and Defence Roundtable (BADR), has cautioned President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP National Chairnan, Adamu Mu’azu, against admitting him into the party.
In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja yesterday, the group said Sheriff was already stigmatised with an insurgent group and his membership of PDP will have negative impact on public perception of the party.
The statement which was signed by the Group Defense Leader, Mr. Inemo Ebiere and Defence Assistant Secretary, Smith Tamarauemi, said PDP must reject the overtures of Sheriff to join the party in order to stave off backlash from Nigerians during 2015 general election.
