Sports Ivory Coast beat DR Congo to qualify for 2015 AFCON final

The Elephants of Ivory Coast have qualified for the final of the 2015 African Nations Cup tournament after beating DR Congo 3-1 in their semifinal match on Wednesday.

It was a game that Ivory Coast brought out their true potentials, showing great quality and class as they overcame DR Congo.

All their top players rose to the occasion and ensured that they powered their team into the final with their contributions in the game.

Yaya Toure seemed as though he was saving his best for the day, shooting his team in front in the 20th minute, cracking in a wonderful goal from distance.

According to a statistic by CAF's official twitter handle," Toure's goal reached a speed of 125km/h ".

However just like they had done in their past games in the competition, DR Congo found a way to come back in the fixture just three minutes after Toure's goal.

Dieumerci Mbokani netted from the spot to draw his side level in the 23rd minute.

Just before the break, Ivory got their lead back through Gervinho who netted his second successive goal of the tournament.

Wilfried Kanon's second half strike killed off any hopes of DR Congo making a comeback as the Ivorians held for the win.

It is the second time in three years that Ivory Coast will be making the final of the Nations Cup competition. Incidentally it is their present coach, Herve Renard who led Zambia to victory over Ivory Coast then, but now he is with them.

They now await the winner of the tie between the host nation, Equatorial Guinea vs Ghana.
