A Sharia court in Kano state has 9 persons to death for blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed.
PREMIUM TIMES reports that the trial was done in secret, and details of its proceedings are yet to be made public.Even the name of the judge who conducted the trial is being kept secret.
According to a statement signed and issued by Malam Nasiru on behalf of the state sharia court of appeal, the nine people were found guilty under Section 110 and Section 382b of the Sharia Penal Court law year 2000. ''They are hereby sentenced to death''. the statement read.
The statement also acknowledged that some Muslim faithful in Kano threatened violence if the accused were set free.
Only 2 of the 9 persons sentenced to death were named in documents made available, they are Abdul-Inyas and Hajiya Mairo.
4 others who were arrested alongside the 9 convicted were set discharged and acquitted.
