On Tuesday, supporters of Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Kastina state threw stones at President Goodluck Jonathan's convoy while calling him 'arna' (Hausa word for Unbeliever) ; NEWSWIRE NG reports.
The attackers also chanted 'Sai Buhari' while carrying out the attack.
The attack took place when President Jonathan, accompanied by Vice President Namadi Sambo; the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu; and Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State among others decided to pay a courtesy visit on the late President Umar Yar’Adua’s mother, Hajiya Dada.
It took a combined team of soldiers and anti-riot policemen to stop a direct attack on the President and his companions.
No injuries were reported after the incident.
