The Lagos State Wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) on Wednesday said the remaining 11.3 per cent of the Teachers’ Specific Allowance had been approved by the state government.
The NUT Chairman in Lagos State, Mr Segun Raheem said that the allowance would be paid alongside their March salary, including the January and February arrears.
``The non-teaching staff had got their 2.5 per cent payment," Raheem said.
Raheem said the government agreed to pay the remaining 11.3 per cent of the allowance in November, adding that it would take effect in January 2015.
``The arrears of previous year’s should have been paid but that was the period of negotiation," Raheem said.
The TSA was a fall out of a series of negotiations between the NUT and the Governors' Forum.
The Lagos State Government had earlier paid 9.2 per cent of the total allowance of the 27.5 per cent proposed.
The last 60 per cent was paid in 2012, amounting to 16.2 per cent, with a promise to pay the outstanding very soon.
