Sports Lampard the spoiler: Manchester City and Chelsea settle for a 1-1 draw

Maybe it was in the scripts or maybe not,but Frank Lampard turned up to spoil the party for his former employers as his late goal helped ten-man Manchester City secure a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

Coming into the fixture,Chelsea were the in-form team topping the table and looking to consolidate on their lead.

City on their part were looking at getting their season back on track and putting up a successful defense of their title.

Manchester City was the better team pressing and pushing for a goal, with Chelsea content absorbing the pressure.

Chance after chance City failed to break Chelsea, with the Blues mounting up a road-block that stalled any penetration.

But the defining moment came when Pablo Zabaleta was sent off after picking up a second yellow card.

Referee Mike Dean sent off the Argentine in what looked a bit harsh, with Diego Costa appearing to have made a mill of it.

It was from then that Chelsea came out of the blocks to capitalize on the numerical advantage.

Eden Hazard picked out a perfect cross to Andre Schurrle who made no mistakes to slot the ball past Joe Hart for the opening goal.

Chelsea from then enjoyed a good spell, running over City and Costa could have found the net, with his shot only bouncing off the post.

However the magical moment came late on in the game when former Chelsea player came on to haunt his former club.

The 36-year arrived in the box at the right time to guide in a James Milner's lay-off,levelling for City.

It was a landmark goal for Lampard, who made history having now scored against 39 teams in the English Premier League.

The goal on the other hand shattered Chelsea's 100% start to the new season as it denied them all three points.
