Metro Lokoja: 13-Year Old Girl Reportedly Kidnapped by Mechanic and Raped for Five Days

Abdulkadir Salihu, a 28-year old mechanic has been arrested in Lokoja for reportedly abducting and raping a 13-year old girl.

Mrs Joyce Abdulmalik, senior magistrate, gave the order for his being remanded in prison on Wednesday in her verdict on his arraignment in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The accused was arraigned before the court on a two-count charge of kidnapping and rape, offences contrary to Section 273 and 283 of the Penal Code Law.

Corporal Ubi Ubana, the prosecuting police officer, informed the court that the matter was reported by Adama Ibrahim, a rsident in Galilee Street, Lokoja. The case was reported to the 'A' Division Police HQ and Department of Criminal Investigation, Lokoja on the 23rd of October.

According to Ibrahim, on October 16, at about 1:25pm his niece (names withheld) aged 13 had been send on an errand to Adankolo New Layout Market, where she was seduced by he accused. As Ibrahim put it, he (the accused) “enticed her into his house on Agbai Street.”

“During the period, he had sex with his captive for several times before releasing her on October 20,” he said.

Ubana noted that investigation into the case was still ongoing, but it would be prudent to remand the accused in the Koton-Karfe prison, given the enormity of the crime.

Abdulmalik, making a ruling, upheld Ubana's submission and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Medium Security Federal Prisons, Koton-Karfe.

The case was adjourned to November 10 for mention.
