Nigerian Police in Borno State on Monday confirmed that 12 people were killed and 18 others wounded in multiple explosions at various places and times across the state capital.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Damian A. Chukwu, told a news conference in Maiduguri, “Yesterday (Sunday) at 11:59pm, Nigerian Army troops deployed at Mammanti village, Molai general area, Konduga LGA, intercepted two teenage female suicide bombers trying to infiltrate the village.
The bombers were engaged by the troops, which resulted in the detonation of their suicide vests, killing only the two suicide bombers.”
Chukwu also said that at a mosque in London-Ciki area of the metropolis, a female suicide bomber exploded, killing herself and eight others, and that at another location a female suicide bomber died after her explosive exploded.
