Impeached president of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF)Aminu Maigari is working behind the scenes to have his sacking overruled by the congress of the football body.

According to a report on Vanguard Sports Maigari is already whipping the tribal sentiments, having met delegates from the Northern part of Nigeria telling them that his impeachment was a deliberate ploy by the South to wrest power from the north.

Eight members of the NFF executive last week passed a vote of no confidence on Maigari thereby impeaching him,but conflict has already arisen with one of the members who was said to have voted against him, denying doing so,adding that his signature was forged.

Maigari is bent on exploring all options to return to power, with his hopes now on the congress to overturn his impeachment.

“Maigari is not going to give up easily in his fight to overturn his impeachment as he has already reached out to delegates from the north, prompting them to believe that his impeachment was orchestrated by ethnic elements and begging them to overturn it at the next Congress," the report quoted an official to have said.

"This message is gaining grounds amongst these delegates, most of whom feel pity for him and want to help him regain his mandate”

However those who ousted him out of power have not been resting on their oars, but have been working as well to make sure it stays that way.

“Maigari thinks he can get his impeachment overturned at the Congress by bringing tribal sentiments. We have gone beyond that,” an anti Maigari official said.
