A recently released report by the GSMA, with title “Sub-Saharan Africa Mobile Economy 2013” reveals that mobile accounts for more than 6% of the Sub-Saharan African GDP, which is higher than any other comparable region, and there is statistics to support the optimism that it may increase to over 8% by 2020.
The report states that the mobile environment supports 3.3 million jobs directly and contributes $21 billion to public funding in sub-Saharan Africa. These figures are expected to double by 2020.
Chief Regulatory Officer for GSMA says, “Despite the significant impact of the mobile industry in Sub-Saharan Africa in recent years, even greater opportunities are ahead.”
