Members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly said they will not attend the peace and security meeting initiated by Governor Umaru Al-Makura.
The governor is convoking the meeting to find lasting solution to the security challenges bedevilling the state.
Mr Mohammed Baba-Ibaku, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Security and Special Duties, stated this at a news briefing in Lafia on Monday.
He said that the decision of the legislature was informed by the governor's alleged inability to implement its resolution on peace and security issues in the state.
"We, the entire members of the state House of Assembly have resolved not to attend the peace and security meeting slated for Sept. 2 by Governor Umaru Al-makura.
"The reason is simply because Governor Al-makura has not been honouring our resolutions on security matters in the state. He always tells us to concentrate on making laws and stay away from issues concerning security matters in the state.
"Are we now important for him to invite us to attend the peace meeting in order to find a lasting solution to the security challenges facing the state; none of us will attend the meeting,” Baba-Ibaku said.
He also queried the recent appointment of two Fulanis as aides to the governor on Fulani Matters.
He said the recent crisis started two days after the governor held a meeting with Fulani people in the state and called on him to address the security challenges facing the state for the overall development of the country.
The lawmaker said members of the assembly would visit their constituencies to discuss ways of finding
lasting solution to the security challenges facing the state, instead of attending the governor's summit.
