OSUN - According to the PUNCH newspaper, security was tight at the Osun High Court on Friday as Governor Rauf Aregbesola and Professor Yemi Osibanjo appeared before the Election Petitions Tribunal to defend the former's governorship election 0n August 9 in the state.

The two men appeared before Justice Elizabeth-Ikpejime on the day when the APC opened their defence in the petition filed by Senator Iyiola Omisore of the PDP who challenged Aregbesola's victory.

Osinbajo, speaking with journalists, insisted that the election was free and fair, saying “we called all of the witnesses we wanted to call and they all performed very well. We hope to see clearly that this was a free and fair election and that the APC won the election fair and square. That is what we certainly hope to see.”

Aregbesola on the other hand said he was at the tribunal to fraternize with Osinbajo, who was recently appointed Buhari's running mate for the the forthcoming presidential elections.
