President Mamnoon Hussain of Pakistan has postponed a three-day visit to Nigeria earlier scheduled for Monday.

Mr Ahmed Sirohey, Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria confirmed the postponement to newsmen in Abuja on Friday.

"Due to pressing concerns in Pakistan, the visit of the president to Nigeria has been postponed; we shall use our diplomatic channel to agree on a new date,’’ Sirohey said.

Sirohey had earlier said, in a news conference in Abuja on Friday, that Hussain was coming to Nigeria with government officials and textile tycoons on the invitation of President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said the visit would be the first by a Pakistani president in 32 years.

Similarly, Malam Dauda Danladi, Nigeria's High Commissioner to Pakistan, who is already in Abuja, confirmed the postponement.

He said the Pakistani authority had contacted the Federal government on the development, saying: ``He cannot visit Nigeria now due to some pressing issues in Pakistan.’’
