According to SaharaReporters, the APC's efforts to get some of its presidential aspirants to step down at the convention for one of its frontline candidate, Buhari, have tanked.

They will all line up for the primaries, which is already in motion.

The newspaper's sources say that despite initially assuring the party that they would step down, several of them have pulled out of the arrangement and have stubbornly decided to contest to run against General Muhammadu Buhari.

Meanwhile, the side meetings resulting from this development has delayed the start of the convention.

On Twitter, Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has said that he is still in the race. Same for Sam Nda-Isaiah, Leadership newspaper publisher. Campaign director for Governor Rochas Okorocha, Prince Emeka Madumere has said his principal will also be contesting the primary.

According to Sahara Reporters party sources, President Goodluck Jonathan and Abubakar Atiku may have met last Wednesday to discuss ways to thwart Buhari's efforts in the race.
