Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has fired the Director General of the State Security Service, Ita Ekpenyong and appointed Lawal Musa Daura as the new head of the agency.

According to PREMIUM TIMES , the removal of Mr. Ekpenyong and appointment of his replacement was announced Thursday by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi, via a statement by the Director of Communications in his office, Haruna Imrana.
Ekpenyong has however, reached out to newsmen saying he resigned and was not fired. Daura's appointment is with immediate effect.
