Sports Stephen Gerrard set to leave Liverpool in the summer

England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed that he hopes to be offered a new contract or he could quit the Merseyside outfit in the summer.

Gerrard, who has appeared for the Anfield side for almost 700 times joined the Liverpool academy at the age of nine, but his current deal expires in the summer and he has not been offered a new one.

The 34-year-old said that he has no intention of retiring now, but if he is not offered a contract extension in the summer, he could leave for another club.

"I can only worry about this season because I'm only contracted until May," Gerrard told the Daily Mail.

"I certainly won't be retiring this summer. I will play beyond this season." Steven Gerrard

"As it stands at the moment, I'm here until the end of the season and want to make the most of it. I certainly won't be retiring this summer. I will play beyond this season.

"We will have to wait and see if that's at Liverpool or somewhere else. That's Liverpool's decision. If they don't come then I will see what's out there."
