Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, the speaker of the House of Representatives has obtained a court order barring the house from reconvening abruptly.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an order directing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, its National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, and others not to reconvene the House of Representatives until November 7.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed also directed the PDP leadership, the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, and others to appear before the court and show cause why the reliefs being sought by the Speaker and the All Progressives Congress, APC, should not be granted.

The judge specifically directed that the status quo be maintained in the matter pending November 7 when the defendants were expected to appear before the court to show cause why the reliefs being sought by the Speaker should not be granted.

The court noted that the order was to preserve the subject matter of the suit which bordered on the Speaker’s position following his defection to the APC. Justice Mohammed made the orders following a motion ex parte argued by his lawyer, Mr. Sunday Ameh, SAN.
