Despite the presence of dignitaries all over Nigeria at the funeral of the Late Senator Uche Chukwumerije on Friday, the Government of Abia State was absent at the event. According to reports in PUNCH newspaper, the special adviser to the Abia State Governor on Political Matters, Chief Ama Abraham, said the deceased’s children didn't carry the state along.
The remains of the late Senator was laid to rest at Isuochi in Umunneochi Local Government Area of the state which is his country home. In attendance at the burial are the governors of Anambra and Imo States, Mr. Willie Obiano and Chief Rochas Okorocha. Senate President David Mark, Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, former Vice-President Alex Ekweume and other dignitaries were also present at the event.
