However,Ambrose said that Messi is a familiar foe and that they know how they can stifle him from being effective. The versatile defender has on a couple of occasions played against Messi at club level,and believes he knows him very well.
“It makes no difference, it is the same player whether for club or country. Nigeria have a lot of good defenders who can stop Messi and any other striker in the world” the Celtic defender was quoted as saying on Africanfootball.com
But Ambrose couldn't say how far Nigeria would go at the tournament but added that they are taking it a game at a time.
“I can’t say precisely, but by God’s grace we will do well and take it game by game, then we will see where it would take us.”
