The Adamawa State Governorship Election Tribunal has officially confirmed the re-election of Umaru Fintiri as the Governor of the state. This decision solidifies Fintiri's position as the duly re-elected Governor after the March 2023 governorship election.

The election process had been quite dramatic, including a supplementary poll and controversial moments. Ultimately, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Umaru Fintiri, who was seeking re-election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner. He secured 430,861 votes, defeating Aisha 'Binani' Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 398,738 votes.

However, challenges arose as Binani and other contestants contested Fintiri's victory, seeking its nullification. The tribunal, after thorough examination, upheld Fintiri's second-term victory as the incumbent Governor.

It's worth noting that the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa State, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, had previously caused a controversy by prematurely declaring 'Binani' as the winner during the supplementary election in April 2023. This incident led to INEC nullifying Yunusa-Ari's decision and the subsequent arrest of Yunusa-Ari for prosecution.

Ultimately, Fintiri's re-election has been confirmed, settling the disputes that followed the governorship election in Adamawa State
