On October 16, 2023, the head office of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in Abuja was shut down by protesting workers who vehemently rejected the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as Chief Executive Officer/Postmaster-General. The confusion stemmed from an announcement by Ajuri Ngelale, a Presidential spokesman, who declared that President Bola Tinubu had changed the leadership of various communication agencies, including NIPOST.

However, soon after Odeyemi's appointment was disclosed, reports surfaced that Adeyemi Adepoju, the former Postmaster-General who had been previously dismissed, had been reinstated. In a viral video, Adepoju was seen addressing some workers who claimed Tinubu had reappointed him.

Previously, in a statement by NIPOST, Adepoju had alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had reappointed him as the Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of NIPOST. According to NIPOST, President Tinubu cited Adepoju's exceptional leadership and outstanding performance during his previous tenure as the reason for his reinstatement.

The protesting workers, however, refused entry to the newly appointed NIPOST CEO on Monday, firmly asserting that her appointment was not in accordance with their wishes
