Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, vehemently denies accusations of corruption and theft following a report by a special investigation panel led by Jim Obazee.

The report, submitted to President Bola Tinubu after six months of probing CBN activities under Emefiele, alleges serious financial misconduct, including the approval of the naira redesign policy without presidential consent and the withdrawal of $6.23 million from the CBN vault.

Emefiele, who recently spent a month in the Kuje correctional facility for procurement fraud, refutes the claims, branding them as "false, misleading, and calculated to disparage" his character.

He challenges Obazee to publish the alleged forged presidential directive and statements denying knowledge of it, emphasizing existing presidential approval for the naira redesign.

Emefiele also denies involvement in offshore accounts and calls for a thorough investigation while announcing his intent to take legal action against the defamatory statements in the report.
