Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, is in the process of vacating the apex bank Governors' quarters in Lagos amidst an ongoing legal dispute.

Reports indicate that a team, led by CBN Special Investigator Jim Obazee, is assisting Emefiele in relocating his personal belongings from the Glover Road residence in Ikoyi.

The Federal Government has recently levied 14 fresh charges against Emefiele based on a report submitted by the CBN special investigator. The charges include criminal breach of trust, forgery, conspiracy to conduct forgery, procurement fraud, and conspiracy to commit a felony in the amendment.

Emefiele is facing accusations of financial crimes following his removal as CBN Governor by President Bola Tinubu in June 2023.

Simultaneously, the Senate has initiated a probe into the acquisition and expenditure of the N30 trillion Ways and Means loans during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Senate asserts that the reckless spending of the loan, obtained under Emefiele's leadership, has significantly contributed to the nation's food and security crises.
