The Defence Headquarters has unveiled the identities of the 17 military personnel who tragically lost their lives in the recent attack in Delta State. Among the fallen heroes were the Commanding Officer of 181 Amphibious Battalion, two majors, one captain, and 12 other members of the battalion, who were part of a peace mission in the Okuama community of Ughelli South Local Government Area.

In a solemn tribute, the Nigerian Army paid respects to the departed soldiers on social media. Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has issued directives to security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice, denouncing the attack as an affront to the nation.

However, human rights lawyer Femi Falana has criticized the razing of the Okuama community, emphasizing that collective punishment violates domestic and international laws.

As investigations unfold and condemnation pours in, the nation mourns the loss of these gallant servicemen and stands united in seeking justice for their ultimate sacrifice.
