Gunmen have tragically killed Eze Achulor, the traditional ruler of Otulu autonomous community in Imo state, Nigeria.

The monarch was abducted from his palace in Otulu, and his lifeless body was discovered along Mbutu road in Aboh-Mbaise LGA on Saturday night.

The assailants, who kidnapped Eze Joe Achulor in the morning, did not make any ransom demands, and efforts to locate them were unsuccessful. The incident adds to the growing insecurity in Imo state, with citizens expressing concern over the rising violence.

The state police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, confirmed the assassination and stated that a high-powered team has been assigned to investigate and apprehend the perpetrators. The police commissioner encourages anyone with valuable information to come forward. This tragic event follows closely after the reported killing of Chiedoziem Anyanwu, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife/Akpodim/Chokoneze ward, further highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive security measures in the region.
